STOMPERS GET SET!

It's fast, it's fun and your feet will never smell as sweet.

The 19th Annual Grape Stomp at Morgan Creek Vineyards ushers in our two-week Oktoberfest celebration. Participating in the stomp is fun, easy and could win you some free wine.

Here's the recipe for a great time: Form a team of three to five stompers per vat. Competitions take place among ten vats. The team producing the largest volume of juice stomped from the fresh grapes will receive a free case of wine.

In addition, each member of the team winning the best concept-and-costume design receives a bottle of our seasonal dessert wine. (Costumes aren’t required, but they are waaaay more fun.)

TO REGISTER:

Official stomps are scheduled for 1 p.m., 2 p.m, and 3 p.m., and pre-registration is required and conducted by phone. Call us to reserve your group vat at 507-947-3547.

HOMEGROWN HARMONY

Music and movement permeate Stomp New Ulm!

From noon to 3 p.m., we’re proud to offer lush sights and sounds from: Bavarian guest musicians Oachkazlschwoarf; The Minnesota Traditional Morris Dancers from the Minnesota Renaissance Festival; The Satori Violet Belly Dancers of Mankato; and those Black Forest masked visitors The New Ulm Narren. Music continues from 3 to 5 p.m. with a performance by The Lost Walleye Orchestra.

More about the day's performers here.

THE TASTE(S) OF NEW ULM

Grape crushers and those who love them (basically everybody there) will find great options for food and drink combinations at the Stomp.

At the Grapes & Grains Tasting Pavilion, you can enjoy a Morgan Creek Vineyards wine & Schell’s beer tasting for $8 per person.

There’s also the Say Cheese! Savor the Wine experience where wines are paired with artisan cheeses at $20. Registration for Say Cheese! is available online here and will include $5 admission fee.

And pig roast lovers, your day has arrived. Discover the savory depths of pit oven cooking with slow-cooked pork coming from our unique Imu Pit Oven at the foot of the vineyard. This pit oven was developed for us by Executive Chef Paul Lynch and our own Adam Marti. It will be tended to this year by Chef Lacey Lueth of Lola’s American Bistro.

Pigs are a symbol of good luck in Germany, we're spreading the luck and love by calling this Oktoberfest dish Schweinsein!, which translates as "to be a pig."

(Meet Lacey and Say Cheese specialist Jim Vonderharr here).

Throughout the day, Morgan Creek Vineyards’ wood-fired oven (pictured here) will be baking up aromatic and delicious appetizers. These include pizzettes, Swiss raclettes, hot pretzels and other snacks to compliment the wines (which, by the way, can be purchased by the glass or bottle.)

GOODS AND COSTS:
Wine and beer tasting pavilion - $10
Say Cheese! Savor the Wine (includes 6 pairings and a Morgan Creek Vineyards wine glass) $25 Reserve your Say Cheese! spot here.
Schweinsein Fire Pit pork dinner $10
Wood fire oven appetizer menu and pizzette $4.50 - $8.00.
